Tryptamine is a classification of alkaloids found in plants, fungi, animals, and even humans playing a role in neurotransmissions. Musically this translates to sound frequencies penetration directly to one’s consciousness. Hence the goal of this IDM electro-acoustic production/instrumentalist duo of Tristin Morin (aka Futurebum) and Charles F. Moreland III.
Here are some of our music videos.

“The music video for “Stelae” from Jaguar Priest features a surreal scene of dispersing fractals, following a woman on a disorienting journey through rivers, forests, fire, and eventually the sun, the viewer is left with both a calming and unsettling experience. With no real tether to the tangible world, “Stelae” lives on a different plane, with hushed vocals complimenting soft sonic sensibilities sprinkled throughout.”
“Soundscapes often subconsciously trigger archetypal memories for locations unseen but felt. For over a decade, utilizing field recordings of obscure environments and resampling unique live instruments has been foundational to how we create music in Tryptamine.”
“Thinking of sound as organized chaos of frequencies and waves of emotion floating through space, we find inspiration in the simplest of sounds and atmospheres while traversing life. I think of all our senses, sound is the most subconscious in nature. For me a field recording of a past experiential location is more effective at triggering the sentiments of a memory than a picture.“
“Tryptamine, consisting of futurebum and Charles F. Moreland III, is a burgeoning electro-acoustic, experimental duo who have been dabbling in the ethereally atmospheric realm of dance music for quite some time.”
